A call with Anna (ご相談)
Fifty minutes with someone who has stood behind a Japanese front desk, about the trip you are actually planning. Not a sales call. The hour itself is the thing you are buying.
Anna was born and raised in Japan and worked the front desk in Japanese hospitality — the job of arranging things for guests before they arrive, by telephone, so that the day simply works. Most questions travelers have about the countryside are questions she answered for a living.
You can find an itinerary anywhere now. What is harder to find is a straight answer from a person who knows how the thing actually runs: whether that inn will take a foreign booking, why the bus timetable changes in November, what the innkeeper will expect of you at dinner, whether the plan you have built is quietly going to fall apart on its third day.
Anna is a Japanese host speaking English, not an English-speaking travel agent. Her English is warm and fluent and occasionally arrives in a slightly Japanese order. We mention it because it is the point rather than a disclaimer: what you are buying is the inside of a Japanese hospitality mind, in a language you share.
Fair warning about the hour — she will ask you more than you ask her. Why Japan, what you cook at home, which film started all this, what you are secretly hoping for. She is not filling time. The advice genuinely changes depending on the answers, and this is the part of the work she loves most.
流れ How it proceeds
- You book a time and pay. Two calls a week, no more. Times are set for North American and European evenings, so nobody has to be awake at four in the morning.
- You answer five short questions. Your dates, who is traveling, what you have already booked, what you are worried about, and what made you choose Japan. The last one is Anna's favorite and it is not small talk — the advice changes completely depending on the answer.
- You talk, for fifty minutes. Bring the half-built plan, the spreadsheet, the list of places you saved. Or bring nothing but the dates. Anna will ask more than you expect.
- Notes arrive within two days. Written by Conrad from the call: what was decided, what to book and in what order, the things to do before certain dates, and the specific warnings that apply to your route. In English, in writing, so it does not live only in memory.
料金 Pricing
$150, fixed.
Fifty minutes, plus the written notes afterward. One price, whatever the trip. No package, no upsell during the call — if the honest answer is that you don't need us for anything further, that is what you will hear.
お約束 Our promise
What this is not
- It is not a booking service. Reservations that require a telephone call in Japanese are the arrangements package. On this call we can tell you which of your plans will need one.
- It is not a written audit. We used to sell a line-by-line itinerary check as a separate document. We stopped, because a document is the part a machine can now produce. Bring the plan to the call instead — Anna will go through it with you live, and you will get the reasoning as well as the corrections. That turned out to be both more useful and more honest.
お客様の声 From guests
This service is new, so there is nothing here yet. The first few callers are getting a reduced rate in exchange for saying honestly how it went — good or bad — and whatever they say will appear here unedited.
組数 Capacity
Two calls a week.
Anna does these herself and would rather do a few of them properly. When the week is full, the next opening is offered — we do not add slots.
Payment and scheduling in one step. Our service terms are written in plain language.

When you may not need this
If your trip is Tokyo and Kyoto with hotels that book online in English, the free planner is genuinely all you need, and we would rather tell you that now than take $150 for confirming it. This call earns its price when you are going somewhere the guidebooks stop short of — or when something about your plan has been quietly worrying you and you cannot tell whether it should.
